Real Madrid President Florentino Perez has accused La Liga of financially supporting media outlets that published negative coverage of the club. Speaking at a press conference, Perez stated that the newspaper ABC is owned by the same company that launched the digital platform Relevo. He claimed that Relevo, under an agreement with La Liga, focused on producing a digital newspaper that incurred losses of €25 million — a sum reportedly covered by La Liga itself.
“The sole purpose of Relevo was to attack Real Madrid and Florentino Perez,” Perez said. He added that his father had been a longtime reader of ABC, and that he himself had subscribed to the newspaper for many years. “In memory of my father, I decided to cancel my subscription to ABC after all these years,” he concluded.
Perez’s remarks come amid ongoing tensions between Real Madrid and La Liga, with the club frequently criticizing the league’s management and media partnerships. The president did not provide specific evidence for his claims but reiterated his stance that certain media campaigns have been unfairly targeting the club.
